Introduction of brand mark, emblem, etc.
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology has established a brand mark, school colors, brand statement, emblem, and official mascots, and is using these to enhance its brand value.

TUAT has adopted MORE SENSE (Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth) as its basic philosophy and is working to realize a recycling society. In order to promote the understanding of this philosophy in society at large, to improve the brand value of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and to aim for further development in the future, we have established a brand mark and other items, which we will use at every opportunity from April 2006.
Based on the English spelling of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology University of Agriculture and Technology, the mark symbolizes the university's philosophy of "realizing a recycling society." It is a very friendly mark, representing agriculture and technology on the horizontal axis in green and blue, with a recycling wheel in the center.
The brand mark was created by Masatoshi Toda, a renowned art director who has received numerous international awards, including the Asahi Advertising Award Grand Prix, and was selected after much discussion within the branding project "UP TUAT Technology" (a communication strategy project to improve the image of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology brand; President was the project leader).

The letters "A" and "T" are decorated with lines symbolizing a wing motif, expressing agriculture and engineering working together to grow toward the future.
The green line, which evokes images of the natural environment such as wind and leaves (plants), represents the agricultural flow, while the blue line, which evokes images of information transmission, chemistry, and waveforms, represents the engineering flow.
The dynamic design and green and blue colors evoke natural images of mountains, forests, oceans, and skies, and express TUAT's proactive commitment to working toward the SDGs and our fundamental philosophy of "Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth" (MORE SENSE).

Brand Statement
地球をまわそう。MORE SENSE!農工大 (Spinning the Earth MORE SENSE! TUAT)
The brand statement was decided in the “UP TUAT” branding project in which the best statement was chosen from submissions made by graduates, current students and faculty members and completed by Jun Maki, a representative Japanese copywriter and visiting TUAT professor.
It expresses the TUAT “realizing a recycling society” philosophy with a cheerful image of the Earth.

In October 1956, TUAT officially created and authorized the current emblem, in which Japanese characters for “university” are arranged on zelkova leaves. The Zelkova tree imparts an image of freedom as in “fly off into the sky on the cool wind sweeping across the zelkova leaves”. Other meanings also attributed to it include the “the leaves boldy reaching out into the sky suggest a promising future” and “serving as a windbreaker benefits society”.
This emblem shall be used in banners, on graduation certificates and official documents as the traditional University symbol.

TUAT celebrated the 140th anniversary of its founding in 2014. Aiming to enhance our brand image and become a university beloved by students, faculty and staff, graduates, prospective students and company employees and members of the local community affiliated with the school or not, TUAT has created two lovable mascots—Hakken (Discovery) and Koken (Contribution). The names of the mascots represent our university's basic philosophy of "Contributing (Koken) to society through new discoveries (Hakken)" (MORE SENSE - Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth).
