Introduction to Department of Biotechnology and Life Science
Department of Biotechnology and Life Science was the first in Japan to be established as a department to train experts in biotechnology, and has sent excellent human resources both domestically and internationally. Biotechnology is a research Department of Biotechnology and Life Science that seeks to understand the mechanisms of life phenomena and apply them to improve our lives. In order to understand and utilize complex and advanced life phenomena at the molecular level, we use engineering techniques to create analytical techniques and research methods for various levels of organisms, such as genes, proteins, cells, and individuals, and to approach the mysteries of life. In addition, based on the knowledge gained from research on a wide range of organisms, from microorganisms and marine organisms to mice, humans, and plants, we are creating new industries such as medical devices and medical materials, food and pharmaceuticals, and the environment and energy.
Educational goals
The Department of Biotechnology and Life Science covers a wide variety of academic fields in order to encompass all life-related science and technology. We aim to train international engineers and researchers who have acquired cutting-edge technical skills, logical thinking and execution abilities, and international communication skills, and who can immediately respond to the needs of all fields of biotechnology.
