TUAT COVID-19 Response Headquarter

TUAT Measures in Response to Lifting of COVID-19 State of Emergency for Tokyo, etc.

?

The Japanese government has decided to lift the “State of Emergency in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)” for Tokyo, etc. (this state of emergency is currently in effect and set to expire on Thursday, September 30). From October, we plan to hold face-to-face lectures whenever possible at TUAT. To create an environment where lectures and research — the first priority of universities — can be conducted, we ask all students to continue to cooperate in preventing the infection/infection spread, by raising awareness on “protecting yourself from infection and preventing infection transmission to others” and by paying attention to the following points. About vaccination for COVID-19 in particular, we have recommended and encouraged that our students and staff get vaccinated as early as possible by making use of the TUAT workplace (group) vaccination, etc. If you have not been vaccinated yet, please consider getting vaccinated as soon as possible with the following options: vaccination offered by the local government of your residential area or vaccination offered by the national government.

  • For lectures that are conducted face-to-face, they will be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
  • If there are students who wish to avoid commuting to university, etc. due to concerns on infection transmission, we will take account of their situation if possible. Please contact the education/student life committee or your supervisor/advising professor.
  • At each campus, infection prevention measures are taken and we are working to create a safe environment for study and research, where the students and researchers can pursue their study and research without much concern about the infection transmission, etc. Please cooperate in wearing non-woven masks, cleaning your hands and disinfecting your desks with alcohol, etc.
  • As we will be frequently posting up-to-date information on how the lectures or events, etc. will be held at TUAT, please check the Google Classroom, Web Bulletin Board for students and TUAT website, etc.
  • Laboratory activities can be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please ensure to follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
  • Take actions in your daily life to prevent the virus spread such as by taking care of your physical condition, hand washing and wearing non-woven masks. If you feel unwell, please refrain from attending university or going outside the house/residence, and try to consult a doctor, etc. before your symptoms get worse.
  • Keep social distancing and refrain from talking without a mask in various situations such as attending lectures, travelling around the campuses, having lunch and waiting for your next lecture.
  • Please refrain from going out unless absolutely necessary and cooperate in preventing the spread of the virus. In particular, refrain from travelling across prefectures (including outings or leisure trips).
  • About extra-curricular activities, please refer to “緊急事態宣言の解除に伴うサークル活動の再開について” (Resuming of extra-curricular activities due to lifting of the state of emergency) dated September 28, 2021.
  • Please take great care and attention not to contract the virus from off-campus activities (including part-time jobs and volunteer activities).
  • Avoid meetings or gatherings involving eating or drinking with others — in which a large number of people participate and/or verbal communication with one another is expected — regardless of whether the participants belong to TUAT or not; whether it is in a restaurant or in someone’s private house/residence, etc.
  • It is okay to say “No” to social gatherings during the pandemic. Please have the courage to decline invitations whether it is from alumni for extracurricular activities or company personnel for job recruitment.
  • Please try to refrain from going on domestic business trips unless absolutely necessary. If the trip is deemed to be necessary, please take the situation of your business trip destination into consideration as well when proceeding with the trip.
  • In general, students’ overseas trips (business trips, etc.) requested by a university will not be approved. However, there is a possibility that a student’s overseas trip may be permitted according to the notification of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan dated June 15, 2021, with the following condition - if the trip is deemed to be required as part of an outbound study abroad program based on an inter-university cooperation agreement, etc. Please consult the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to well in advance of planning the trip.
  • If you are confirmed with COVID-19, taken a PCR test or identified as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, immediately report it to the University.
  • Please act according to the information or guidelines provided by the national/local governments.
  • We will make a new announcement if there is any change to the current status such as the government re-declares the state of emergency.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to.
